Why will I be writing about technology and small business? And why should you care?
First, entrepreneurs, family run enterprises, and small businesses are massive force for good in the world.
I've spent my personal and professional life surrounded by local business owners and have watched as they care for their employees, their customers, and their communities.
From their pocket books, but also from their hearts.
A business owner that knows his employees and customers operates with a strong sense of humanity and connectedness. Examples I witnessed, inspired me to start my own small company, Clearwater Data, founded on principles of candor, performance, and caring for people.
Second, the world is changing at an accelerating pace.
I don’t have to explain what I mean. We all feel it. Industry disrupting companies like Netflix, Uber, and Tesla are only the most extreme version of the story; increasingly, technology is what sets companies apart. For small businesses, the technology they choose to implement and, crucially how they implement it, will make kings and destroy kingdoms in the coming years.
Third, I’ve spent the bulk of my career building and implementing technology for small businesses.
I’ve learned hard lessons I want to share. Writing about it is the clearest path to doing that broadly.
So, again, subscribe and I’ll send my essays straight to your inbox, hot off the press.
One last thing.
Nothing is worse than yelling from a mountaintop and hearing no echo. If something stands out, let me know what you think! And if you get value from an essay, share it! It would mean the world to me. Forward it to a friend or your employees. Tweet it. Share it on LinkedIn.
Thanks, in advance.
